Atlas Copco's history in China
Atlas Copco products were sold for the first time during the 1920s, through export from Europe.
In the early 1980s, Atlas Copco established a company in Hong Kong with "Representative Offices" in Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou. In 1983-1985 Atlas Copco entered into product licence agreements with six Chinese companies for the local production of some selected products. Starting 1993, Atlas Copco used Joint Ventures to develop its China business. Since 1998, Atlas Copco endeavors to incorporate its companies as Wholly Owned Foreign Enterprises, 100% owned by Atlas Copco.
