Changzhou East Textile — Energy Recovery at Work
Changzhou East Textile Co., Ltd. in the Jiangsu province of China is with more than 1000 employees a large company, even to Chinese standards. To keep its large-scale production running, East Textile has more than 10 Atlas Copco compressor units installed.
Such a compressor can save costs by recovering the heat energy generated by the compressor.
After close consideration and evaluation, East Textile decided to purchase 4 GA 75+ air compressors with energy recovery system. In September 2009, East textile even installed an additional heat recovery compressor, this time a GA 37+. Zhang Liang, general manager of Changzhou East Textile has high expectations and praises the heat recovery system: “Actually it is an excellent method to recover the heat energy. This convenient, reliable and high-efficient technology will make our company more competitive in cost saving. I greatly appreciate what Atlas Copco recommended and I will continue to choose Atlas Copco if I want an air compressor in the future.”
Facts and figures
A GA 75+ at full working condition can generate 50 kW of heat energy. Supposing that the temperature of the water inlet is 20°C and the water outlet is 60°C, then 50 kW heat energy can heat up 1000kg of water per hour. In effect, 4 units can heat up 4000kg of water per hour.
Even when compared to common heating methods, the energy recovery system is the cheapest and most efficient. For example: using electricity instead of the recovered energy, would cost more than 1.12 million yuan per year. The installation of the equipment for electricity or even vapor, would easily cost another 150KCNY, driving up fixed investments considerably.
