Atlas Copco Compressor Technique Makes Energy-Saving Technologies a Key Focus for China
Shanghai China, May 9, 2010 – Atlas Copco Compressor Technique today highlighted its long and successful history in bringing energy efficient technology to China. Supported by the shift of certain strategic management functions from Europe to China, Atlas Copco looks forward to further spreading state-of-the-art compressor solutions such as energy recovery, Variable Speed Drive, and air monitoring systems in China.
In 2009 Atlas Copco’s ZR series of oil-free air compressors with built-in energy recovery systems was the first in the world to be TÜV certified for ‘net zero energy consumption’. This confirmed that 100% of the electrical power input could be recovered in the form of hot water. With these “Carbon Zero” compressors, industries using a great deal of hot water and steam such as food and beverage; dairies; pulp and paper; pharmaceuticals; chemicals and petrochemicals; power plants, clean rooms and textiles can dramatically reduce their energy bills.
Benefits of Cutting Energy Use
Atlas Copco’s energy saving technologies support the plan of China’s government to reduce energy use by 40-45% per unit GDP by 2020 from the 2005 level. Compressed air systems account for about 9% of the total industrial electricity consumption in China, according to industry sources. Atlas Copco’s energy saving technologies can therefore bring great benefits to the environment and play a fundamental role in helping China achieve this goal.
