Sharon Yao Act!Business Process Manager, Hire to Retire and China Holding HR Manager

“Diverse backgrounds have equal opportunities in Atlas Copco”

Atlas Copco China - Sharon Yao
Joined Atlas Copco since about 10 years, I have been working with different HR roles and responsibilities for different organizations, including customer center, ACBS and Holding in China. Witnessed and being part of the business growth in China market, the major challenges for an HR professional is to recruit, develop and retain young and ambitious talents. I learned from our GMs and Business Line Managers, understood their business focus, tracked China Talent market movement and delivered people management tools and solutions.

Making a career in Atlas Copco is about taking on “world class challenges”. Two years ago, I applied for the Business Process Manager position in Act!Program, a Group Business Transformation project. Working offshore for the Act!Program (based in Belgium) means morning for China, afternoon and evening for Europe and US as one of my typical days. When heading the HR stream to develop a Global HR solution, the understanding and facilitation of business requirements cross organizations, Divisions, Business Areas, is crucial. Leading a virtual project team internally and externally was also a great opportunity for me to interact with different people from different countries with different cultural background. We are empowered to work together, contributing with our expertise and valuable time to create milestone deliveries from Act!HR program.

Diverse backgrounds get equal opportunities in Atlas Copco. Being an Asian and a middle aged female manager, I think it is important to continuously step out of my comfort zone, being ambitious and adaptable. And most important, we encourage work and life balance.
