“Achieve cotinuous progress by constant challenges”

Atlas Copco China - Terrence Tan
I joined Bolaite (Shanghai) Compressor Co., Ltd. in autumn 2009 as an intern. I officially became a manufacturing engineer in Bolaite at the beginning of 2010. That is when my job career in the Atlas Copco Group started.

When I was a manufacturing engineer, I had the opportunity to be a team member of some multi-brand projects. I accumulated a lot of experience and professional knowledge by the cooperation with other departments and the supports from the leaders during the project progress. Also in my own department I was in charge of a successful project to change the production mode with help from colleagues and support from leaders. We changed from Kanban production mode to production plan mode in order to improve the delivery performance.

I became the Industrial Air flow team leader in Bolaite at the beginning of 2012 after applying in the internal job market. I adapted to the new work role with the help and support of my colleagues. I soon received new challenges and tasks (Lean projects for 2 IAT production lines). This was the first time for me to be a project team leader. After the great efforts of the team we finished the lean projects successfully. My leadership skill and communication skill improved a lot after the experience of the lean projects. My strain capacity also improved during the daily work. It could be summarized as: achieve continuous progress by the constant challenge.

I successfully applied for production manager of Guangzhou Linghein Compressor Co., Ltd. at the beginning of 2014, again through the internal job market. When writing this article, it was my final time working for Bolaite. I really enjoyed the work roles and challenges in Bolaite though it is only 5 years since I graduated from University. I achieved improvement by the job and the challenges. I am prepared to take on new challenges in my new work role in Guangzhou.
