The firstunit of Atlas Copco CDM30 LPdrillrig arrived at Borneo Coal Mine, Indonesiain November 2011; it has been put into service and is operating well. Its mobility, high efficiency and comfortable operation have obtained unanimous appraise from thecustomers.

AC China - First unit of CDM30 LP Rotary Drill Rig arrived at Borneo Coal Mine in Indonesia
Since successful launch of Atlas Copco Rotary Drill Rig CDM30 HP in September 2010 and the same year its first show in Shanghai bauma exhibition, lots of customer orders are received and many units of CDM 30 HP are working in China, Mongolia and Burma and well received by customers. In order to meet market demand, with good field testing result, ADS Nanjing factory launched CDM30 low pressure (LP) rig in market. First unit of CDM30 LP rig from ADS Nanjing arrived at Borneo Coal Mine in Indonesia in November 2011, now it is in operation in jobsite and working in good condition.

The coal mine in Borneo is located in Balikpapan, Indonesia. It is in the tropic zone, with a maritime climate, great air humidity and high saline matters; the air temperature is maintained to be above 35 °C all the year around. Those conditions have formed great challenges to the engineering machinery. Engineers in the Nanjing plant enhanced the cooling and air-conditioning features of CDM30 LP rigs. It is powered by CAT C15-475hp, adopts the mainstream electric-hydraulic servo proportional control system; which achieves simple, flexible and comfortable operation with high efficiency but low oil consumption.

CDM30 LP is designed based on experience of mature rig DM30 from Garland factory in US; it is more compact, with better mobility. Moreover, the high-pressure common-rail direct-injection engines of brand-new generation provide higher economical efficiency of fuel oil as well as maintaining the dynamic power for the user. Its low oil consumption 80 liter/hour and depth capacity of 40m/hour (200mm hole diameter) are eye catching features of the rigs. The CDM30 series of drilling rigs carry on the good lineage of the Drilling Solutions equipped with good design-electric-hydraulic Proportional Servo Control system and closed hydraulic system, etc. The CDM30 LP rig adopts 2 variable displacement servo main pumps and 1 constant flow paddle pump for providing the dynamic power for the entire hydraulic system; the world-famous branded Atlas Copco screw type compressor provides air power for the CDM30 LP rig .The feed and rotary system provides maximally 30.000 pound axis pressure and maximally 5,400ft-lbs rotary torque under the power output of main pump, making drilling quite easy. It is worth noting that the CDM30 LP rig adopts the large displacement air compressor (1050cfm/min), which is unique in the same level of drilling rigs. The on-site test proves the high efficiency performance of this large displacement air compressor, and shows the amazing drilling efficiency of the CDM30 LP rig.

Area Marketing Manager in Balikpapan from PT. Atlas Copco Fluidcon, Mr. Waldi Fitriyanto highly compliments CDM30 LP rig’s performance, high efficiency and easy operation, meanwhile, he believes with its good design background and good performance it will open up a wide market in Indonesia.
