Initial Successful Application of Atlas Copco CDM75E Rotary Drilling Rigs at Baima Iron Mine
Panzhihua New Baima Mining Co., Ltd. (a subsidiary of Pangang Group Company Ltd.) introducedone unit of Atlas Copco CDM75E rotary drilling rig in October, 2011. This rig not only becomes the first roller-bit drilling rig sold in Southwest China, but also marks the first application of CDM75 electric roller-bit drilling rig at iron mine assembled by Atlas Copco Rotary Drill Rig Department in Nanjing facility.
With progress of the times and development of enterprises, Panzhihua New Baima Mining Co., Ltd. (a subsidiary of Pangang Group Company Ltd.) has introduced several units of blast-hole drill rigs, including one unit of Atlas Copco CDM75E rotary drilling rig in October, 2011. This rig not only becomes the first rotary drilling rig sold in Southwest China, but also marks the first application of CDM75E rotary drilling rig at iron mine assembled by Atlas Copco Rotary Drill Rig Department in Nanjing facility.
Abundant reserves in Baima iron mine with huge exploitation difficulty
Baima iron mine is a large vanadium-titanium magnetite deposit, in which ore reserves in Tianjia Village and Jijiping totals 1.1 billion tons. From the point of exploitation conditions, Jijiping has a maximum exposure elevation of 2,267 m and lowest erosion base level of 1423.8 m. This mine features high elevation, steep slope and stable ores and adjoining rocks. Therefore, to save energy and increase economic benefits in an utmost way, this mine adopts the method of drift-ore pass and standard-gage railway development and transportation.
Efficient drilling and long lifespan of drilling tools
It’s known that Jijiping ore block of Baima iron mine employs rectangular borehole layout, with distance between holes and distance between rows being 6×9 m, bench height of 15 m, hole diameter of 250 mm and hole depth of 17.5 to 18.5 m. This unit of Atlas Copco CDM75E rotary drilling rig currently being used at this mine has an input voltage of 6000 V and frequency of 50 Hz, with power line height being 12 to 15 m and compressor displacement being 53 firstname.lastname@example.org. Besides, it adopts wet dedusting method, contributing to good dust removal effect and effective pollution reduction, which also meets drilling and exploitation requirement in rainy season.
As to service condition of this rig, Huang Ancheng also expressed his satisfaction. He said, “The motor of this rig has been running for 1,667 hours, with actual drilling time reaching 1,035 hours and drilling depth 19,944 m in total. The comprehensive drilling rate is about 20m/h, 30% higher than average comprehensive drilling rate of 15 m/h by part of drill rigs made in China.”
Atlas Copco also excels in durability of drilling tools. According to Huang Ancheng, CDM75E rotary drilling rig is equipped with Atlas Copco genuine drill rod and rod stabilizer, which have been used for 20,000m and 9,000m respectively and are still in use; however, part of drill rods and rod stabilizers made in China have a lifetime of only 8,000m and 5,000m below respectively. From this, it can be seen that Atlas Copco genuine drill rods and rod stabilizer has an obvious advantage in service life, which is of great help to customers in cost saving and economic performance improvement.
Atlas Copco training offerings to enhance the productivity
Now there are over 400 workers in Jijiping mining area of Baima iron mine, among which CDM75E rotary drilling rig team works under 2 shifts, each with 2 persons. Since invgtroduction of CDM75E rotary drilling rig last year, 10 persons in total have received professional training from Atlas Copco, which effectively enhancing their own operational level and production efficiency. It not only reflects that Baima iron mine attaches great importance to employee training, but also reflects Atlas Copco’s brand commitment of proving sustainable productivity for customers. Speaking of future development, Huang Ancheng said, “In recent years, with huge support from Atlas Copco, Baima iron mine has improved a significantly in economic benefits, production cost and security and guarantee, etc. We hope Atlas Copco will provide more and better products and services, delivering substantial support for us to achieve an exploitation target of 55 million tons in total by the end of 2015. ”
