Atlas Copco Joins TCC Jurong to Build a Green Mine

To intensify its technical strength and improve production efficiency, TCC Jurong introduced 1 unit of Atlas Copco CDM30 rotary blast hole drilling rig for Xiguoding Cement Rock Mine in 2011 and has now fully experienced advantages of the drill in terms of flexibility, efficiency and operational comfort.

At present, China’s cement yield ranks first in the world. Among numerous cement mines in China, Xiguoding Cement Rock Mine of Jurong TCC Cement Co., Ltd. (Hereinafter referred to as TCC Jurong) is an important company in the Yangtze River Delta region relying on its advantageous geographic location, rich mine resources, modern production facilities and advanced environmental protection concept.
 
Rich mine reserves and advantageous mining conditions
 
Xiguoding Cement Rock Mine of TCC Jurong is located in the Yangtze River Delta economic region. It has convenient communications, north to Shanghai-Nanjing Highway and south to Shanghai-Nanjing Railway and Yangtze River.

The mine was built and put into production in October 1997. It is explored in horizontal layers from top to bottom. Section height is 15 meters and exploring area is 1.12 square kilometers. It has rich ore reserve and workable reserves are 273 million tons. CaO grade is high, above 54% averagely. Annual mining capacity is 4.8-5 million tons.
 
15-year cooperation and lay importance on quality
 
To intensify its technical strength and improve production efficiency, TCC Jurong introduced 1 unit of Atlas Copco CDM30 rotary blast hole drill rig for Xiguoding Cement Rock Mine in 2011 and has now fully experienced advantages of the drill in terms of flexibility, efficiency and operational comfort.

According to Chen Longbao, vice general manager of TCC Jurong, they have started cooperation with Atlas Copco since 1997 and are familiar with Atlas Copco equipment. Except the CDM30 drill rig introduced recently, the company has also 3 units of CM760 and 1 unit of CM695 drill rigs. “We lay highest importance on brand, reliability, flexibility, operability, after service and maintenance cost when buying drills and Atlas Copco can fulfill all of our requirements. So our drilling equipment is all from that company,” says Chen Longbao.
 
Xu Xiangrong, director of Mining Plant, TCC Jurong also expresses his satisfaction with the new CDM30 drill. Xiguoding Cement Rock Mine has been explored for more than ten years and has large operation platform and rock hardness of 10-14, which is suitable for the CDM30 rotary blast hole drill rig to make the most of its technical advantages. With drilled diameter up to 165 millimeters, the drill drills vertically for 6 hours a shift and 2 shifts a day. Average drilling depth of each shift is about 160 meters.
 
Besides, the CDM30 drill rig needs to replace drill rods every 40,000 meters and service life of its DTH hammer is 25,000 hours. Compared to homemade drilling equipment, the drill rod and DTH hammer have a service life 30% longer. This helps the user improve production efficiency and reduce equipment use cost. “With high drilling speed, large operating scope and high efficiency, the CDM30 drill rig lays solid foundation for us to improve production efficiency, decrease production cost and reduce safety risk,” says Xu Xiangrong.
 
According to Xu Xiangrong, Atlas Copco has sent professional engineers to provide systematic theoretical and practical trainings for their operators in order to help them get familiar with operation of the drill. Besides, fast and timely delivery service by its Asia-Pacific Logistic Center in Nanjing fulfils their demand for drill components.
 
Focus on management, performance and environment
 
TCC Jurong has not only modern mining technology and advanced mining equipment but also strong environmental protection consciousness. The company has regarded reclamation and greening as one of its targets since its foundation. In 2012, the mine was approved by Ministry of Land and Resources as national trial green mine. 
 
"While improving economic performance with the aid of robust management system and advanced mining equipment, we are also committed to build a green and safe mine. Atlas Copco equipment has high production efficiency and low operation and maintenance cost, which helps us reduce maintenance expenses by RMB 200,000 and decrease dust emission by 30,000 tons every year. It has made great contributions for us to build a green mine,” says Chen Longbao.
 
Talking of 15-year cooperation with Atlas Copco, Chen Longbao says, Target of Xiguoding Cement Rock Mine by 2015 is to achieve 6 million tons/year of limestone ores. Advanced and efficient products and perfect after service of Atlas Copco will be an important guarantee for us to fulfill the target.
