2012-03-08

Shandong Gold Mining Co., Ltd., a major company of Shandong Gold Group, owns four gold mines: Jiaojia, Xincheng, Sanshandao, and Linglong. The first three gold mines will be developed into large scale mines with a daily processing capacity of more than 10,000 tons. And these mines are actively promoting the use of digital and automated mining technologies.

Scooptram ST3.5
Not long ago, the Group purchased 20 Atlas Copco Scooptrams and mining trucks and distributed them to mining zones that needed such equipment.Today, more than 120 units of Atlas Copco underground rock excavation equipment are busy working in mines of Shandong Gold Group. With their outstanding performance, they have become cutting-edge tools for the Shandong Gold Group.

In 2007, China replaced South Africa as the world’s largest gold producing country. Gold mines are located all over China, but the geographical distribution of these gold reserves is not a balanced one. Shandong Province, as the most important gold production base of China, has the highest gold reserves, output, output values, profits and foreign exchanges in the country.

As the No. 1 gold producer in Shandong, Shandong Gold Group maintains rapid and diversified growth and its businesses include mining, real estate, and tourism etc.

Rich Resources and Broad Prospect

Shandong Gold Mining Co., Ltd., a major company of Shandong Gold Group, owns four gold mines: Jiaojia, Xincheng, Sanshandao, and Linglong. The first three gold mines will be developed into large scale mines with a daily processing capacity of more than 10,000 tons.  And these mines are actively promoting the use of digital and automated mining technologies.

Jiaojiao gold mine is located at Yexian County, Laizhou City, Shandong Province, in the Bohai Sea coast region. With two mining zones, it is capable of producing near 10 tons of gold per year.  At the end of 2006, the mine merged Wang’ershan gold mine and Sizhuang zone of Cangshang gold mine, which had been owned by Laizhou Jincang Mining Company. Since then, the mine has been expanding its production and its daily processing capacity has been growing continuously.

According to Mr. Jiao Zhiqiang, Material & Equipment Manager of Jiaojia gold mine, Jiaojia gold mine is currently working on a 6000-ton mining and processing project. The processing capacity of Jiaojia gold mine is expected to rise sharply from the present 7000t/d to 12,000 t/d and the profits will reach more than 400 million yuan when the whole project is completed by the end of the Twelfth Five-Year Period.

Equipment Purchase

Every year, Shandong Gold Group arranges a special fund, from tens of millions to one hundred million yuan, for the purchase of new equipment, in order to match the mine growth and provide more solid equipment support for the mining. Not long ago, the Group purchased 20 Atlas Copco Scooptrams and mining trucks and distributed them to mining zones that needed such equipment.“Jiaojia gold mine also got several scooptrams. We started the cooperation with Atlas Copco in the 1980s and high mutual trust has been established between the two sides. Most loaders that are in service in our mines ,which are from Atlas Copco,” said Mr. Jiao. Today, more than 120 units of Atlas Copco underground rock excavation equipment are busy working in mines of Shandong Gold Group. With their outstanding performance, they have become cutting-edge tools for the Shandong Gold Group.

Gold deposits at Jiaojia gold mine are of altered rock type in fracture zones and are excavated via central footwall shafts and ramps with airshafts at the flanks. Main mining methods here include overhand cut and fill, overhand drift and fill, and underhand drift and fill. The mine owns advanced LHD vehicles, including Atlas Copco MT2010, ST2D, ST3.5, and ST7. Let’s take Scooptram ST3.5 underground loader as an example. The loader has a tramming capacity of 6 tons and it works three shifts, more than 15 working hours per day, making itself high-efficiency equipment.

Furthermore, ST3.5 is designed for small to medium sized operations that include development work, production mining, construction sites and site clean-up activities. Its tramming height is 2250 mm and it is 2120 mm wide. Its parallel boom design provide for aggressive and efficient mucking operations. Its general components have well-proven durability and can help users lower maintenance costs. ST3.5’s side seated operator position is good for efficient bi-directional operation with maximum visibility.

Fous On Service

As a long-term customer of Atlas Copco, Mr. Jiao is full of praise of the brand. “Atlas Copco’s mining equipment is highly recognized and accepted in the market. Atlas Copco’s equipment can be seen at many mines in China. Atlas Copco has become a commonly recognized brand of mining equipment for all of us. However long it works continuously, it can maintain excellent performance and stability. In terms of after service, Atlas Copco always responds immediately and provides prompt service whenever customers have spare part or maintenance demands,” he said.

“In addition, Atlas Copco attaches importance to customer’s opinions and can promptly apply these opinions in equipment design and develop products that can better meet our requirements. Meanwhile, Atlas Copco is increasing its investments in China. For example, it established a global R&D center in Nanjing in 2011. Through these initiatives, Atlas Copco’s product adaptability and service will reach a new height. We look forward to this very much.”

Cooperation Committed to Harmony

Roads are very clean in the mining zones at Jiaojia gold mine. The newly built worker dormitories and dining rooms make you feel that this is not the forefront of industrial production. Mr. Jiao explained that, a mining enterprise can only become qualified for the title of modern mine when it attaches importance to environment protection and sustainable development and bears its social responsibilities in its pursuit of growth and profit. In this issue, Jiaojia gold mine and Atlas Copco shares the same idea.

It is known that Atlas Copco promises to remain committed to sustainable productivity. In everyday production, this commitment means helping customers increase their productivity through provision of faster, more energy efficient, safer or more ergonomic products and reduce environmental impact. This vision has been fully manifested at Jiaojia gold mine. The cooperation between the two companies also contributes to the harmonious coexistence between human kind and nature.

Future Development

It is estimated that, by the end of 2015, the available reserves based on geological assurance of Jiaojia gold mine (including the resources within its mining and prospecting rights) will reach 38.55 million tons, ore processing capacity 10,000 t/d, gold production 10 tons per year, and annual profits 300 million yuan. The mine will be able to lead the industry in the fields of digitalized mining, environment-friendly development, intelligent processing, energy saving and emission reduction, and mining efficiency and safety.

On the basis of good cooperation in the past 30 years, Atlas Copco will continue to work with Shandong Gold Group and contribute to a brighter future of Jiaojia gold mine.
