Datun Tin Mine, a subsidiary of YUNNAN TIN GROUP (HOLDING) COMPANY LIMITED (hereinafter referred to as Yunnan Tin Group), introduced two full-hydraulic underground core drilling rigs, one is Atlas Copco Diamec U4 PHC (hereinafter referred to as U4), and the other Diamec U6 DH PHC (hereinafter referred to as U6) respectively in May 2013 and February 2014, and thus setting a new efficiency record of full-hydraulic underground core drilling rigs for Yunnan Tin Group.

Datun Tin Mine is an underground nonferrous metal mine with a mining history for more than 5 decades.The Mine is 1360 meters in altitude, contributing an annual output of 2 million tons of tin ore and 12 thousand tons of tin metal respectively; the mining method adopted is mainly sublevel open stoping plus cut-and-fill stoping.Under the background the whole industry is striving for modernization and upgrade, Datun Tin Mine resolutely made ​​the decision to introduce new technology and new equipment, so Atlas Copco U4 and U6 full-hydraulic underground core drilling rigs were introduced as secret weapons to improve their drilling efficiency and form the modernized mine.

Half Effort and Double Result with Advanced Equipment
According to the introduction of Guang Gu, director of Equipment & Energy Department of the Datun Tin Mine, U4 is smaller in size, mainly operated in a 5×6 meter mining face. It's drilling depth reaches 280 meters in NQ size; the operating time per day is 15 hours and the highest productivity can come up to 1036 meters per month with an average productivity of 900 meters per month, equivalent to 1.5 times of other drilling rigs’. This productivity record of full-hydraulic underground core drilling rig was, however, broken once again in Yunnan Tin Group with the introduction of U6. Compared with U4, U6 is larger in size yet more powerful, mainly operated in a 6×8 meter mining face. The drilling depth is 618 meters in NQ size (the rig’s drilling capacity is 900 m in N size), the operating time per day is also 15 hours, and the highest productivity can come up to 1390 meters per month with an average productivity of 1030 meters per month; compared with other drilling rig's average productivity of 600m per month, the productivity is almost doubled.

When commenting on the performance of these two rigs, Gu said: "Although U4 and U6 vary in size and power, they share a common characteristic: high production efficiency.
