Efficient ROC L8 30 Drilling Rigs Bring You More Profits

2011-03-23

Weng Fu phosphoresce project was initiated in 1990, with heading blast as its mining method at that time; all constructions were done by workers, and the hand pneumatic drill was used in drilling work. In October 2007, contractor bought a modern open air drill rig for the first time, which is an Atlas Copco ROC L825 drill rig and is used for drilling in blasting work. The drilling rig has greatly improved the operational efficiency. Fuel consumption of ROC L830 is only 60L/h;It can not only improve the work efficiency, but also reduce the operation cost.

As the mining contractor of Guizhou Weng Fu phosphorite, Yunnan Zhenxiong Real Estate Development Companyhas been engaged in mining operations for nearly 20 years at Yingping mining lot, experiencing the mining method from labor exploitation, to the combination of labor and equipment exploitation, and to total equipment exploitation. Thus, the Company has been impressed by high returns that highly-efficient equipments brought to the enterprise.

Wu Changyuan, general manager of Yunnan Zhenxiong Real Estate Development Company, introduced that: “The current mining division is a project department of Yunnan Zhenxiong Real Estate Development Company at Weng Fu phosphorite. This project was initiated in 1990, with heading blast as its mining method at that time; all constructions were done by workers, and the hand pneumatic drill was used in drilling work. In October 2007, we bought a modern open air drill rig for the first time, which is an Atlas Copco ROC L825 drill rig and is used for drilling in blasting work. The drilling rig has greatly improved the operational efficiency. In April 2010, we bought another Atlas Copco drill rig-the ROC L830 drill rig.”

Compared with ROC L825 drill rig, ROC L830 drill rig has a higher productivity, and reduces the fuel consumption in every mining field. The drill hole diameter of ROC L825 drill rig is 165mm, and the blasting volume per meter is around 30m3; while the drill hole diameter of ROC L830 can reach up to 203mm, and the blasting volume per meter is around 35m3. The fuel consumption of ROC L825 is 65-70L/h, while the fuel consumption of ROC L830 is only 60L/h, saving about 5~10L fuel consumption per hour. Experts from Atlas Copco were also surprised at the fuel consumption information introduced by the customer. ROC L830 is really amazing. It can not only improve the work efficiency, but also reduce the operation cost.

Working hours of ROC L830 drilling rig is about 10h per day, and the drilling depth per day is about 300m. As the final settlement of the Company’s contract is conducted on the basis of the mining volume per month, the increase of production volume and the decrease of fuel consumption have brought high profits and low costs, and thereby creating more economic benefits for the Company.

The mining method now used in Yingping mine lot is bench method, and the hole net parameters are: the hole array pitch of ROC L825 is 5m*6m, and the bench height is around 10m; the hole array pitch of ROC L830 is 5m*7m, and the bench height is generally around 10~12m, with the ultra depth of 1.5m, and the perforated angle as 90°. Viewed from the drilling rig, the air displacement of the air compressor in ROC L830 drilling rig is larger, so is the diameter of the drill pipe. Therefore, the capacity to drill bigger and deeper holes is stronger, and the effect is better.

Thanks to the ideal blasting effect, the evenness of the construction site is well secured. The running and work of the drilling rig is therefore more convenient, which enabled the better application and operation of Atlas Copco drilling rig at Yingping mine lot.

With the full recognition of the performance of the equipment, general manager Wu also showed his satisfaction to the after-sale service of Atlas Copco, “Since the first time we use the Atlas Copco drilling rig, we have always been satisfied with the after-sale service, training, troubleshooting and other services of Atlas Copco. During the drilling, the thorny problem we have often met is the drill sticking problem occurring in soft rocks drilling process and caused by the uneven hardness degree at Yingping mine lot. When this problem or any other failures occurred, the after sales service personnel will arrive at site within 48 hours after a phone call.”

With the continual growth of mining operations of Weng Fu phosphorite, the Company is considering the next-step equipment purchase plan. General manager Wu has noted that Atlas Copco ROC L830 drilling rig will be their first choice.
