Safe food is critical for public health, community and economy. This makes Oil-free compressed air which is widely used in food and beverage processing an important issue for manufacturers.  There’re two Oil-free solutions in the market: Oil-free compressors and lubricated compressors with oil removal filters.

“The latter is often referred to as ‘technically oil-free air’.” Mr. Hingorani pointed out, “It is necessary to have air cooling devices and several stages of oil removal with multiple components. A failure of any of these components or inadequate maintenance could result in oil contamination of a process. Only Oil-free compressors can guarantee the zero risk of contamination.”

The purchase cost is always concerned by most customers. Oil-free compressors may be more expensive than oil-injected compressors and filters. “However, when considering the higher cost of maintenance caused by filter change, energy and cost of oily condensate disposal, the additional investment of Oil-free compressors is normally paid back in two years or less.” He emphasized.

As the first company to receive the Class 0 certification for oil content according to ISO 8573-1, 2001 by TÜV in Germany, Atlas Copco has certified all its Oil-free compressor technologies under new ISO 8573-1 2010 standard in 2011, and become the Oil-free solution provider of many food and beverage brands like Nestle, Wahaha and Wyeth.

The Oil-free compressors of Atlas Copco are also developed for activities demanding the highest level of purity like pharmaceutical production, critical electronic or any similarly exacting industry.

CIFSQ Conference is an important top-level event that brings together a distinguished faculty of regulatory, scientific, academic and industry leaders who are putting food safety into action.
