Atlas Copco DM75E drill rig starts work on 5200m-high plateau
In light of the demanding natural environment, Liaoning Chengyuan Blasting Engineering Co., Ltd introduced two Atlas Copco DM75E drill rigs in May 2014. Both have since consistently delivered highly efficient and reliable performance 5,000m above sea level.
Located in Maizhokunggar country in the Tibet Autonomous Region, the Jiama Mine is owned by Huatailong Tibet Mining Development Co., Ltd. under the China National Gold Group Corporation. The mine broke ground in August 2008 with a total investment of RMB 3.5 billion and covers an area of 144 square kilometers. Standing at an average altitude of 4,780m (4,000m-5,360m), the Jiama Mine is designated as a high-altitude mining project, where the oxygen content is only 40-60% of that on a flat plain. The local climatic conditions are extremely treacherous.
Due to its location in the upper reaches of the Lhasa River, the mine features a terrain that descends from east to west and is frequented by natural disasters. Both have since consistently delivered highly efficient and reliable performance 5,000m above sea level.
Thoroughly customized for high altitude operations
The technical engineers of Atlas Copco adapted the two DM75E drill rigs to the local high altitude operating conditions in the following ways:
1. Adopting motors and a high-voltage electrical control cabinet suitable for operation on high altitude plateaus;
2. The use of main frames which have been redesigned and redeveloped to deliver heavy-duty and fatigue-proof performance;
3. Adopting heavy-duty crawlers and chassis for optimal performance on the rugged work sites.
