Atlas Copco PowerROC T25 DC’s first experience in China

2013-12-04

Beiliu Dongtian Quarry, located in Yulin City of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, is the first customer of Atlas Copco PowerROC T25 DC drill rig in China.

PowerROC T25 DC
Beiliu Dongtian Quarry, located in Yulin City of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, is a medium-scale limestone quarry, with a monthly exploitation quantity around 100,000 tons. Mr. Tan Dongtian, General Manager of the quarry, is quite familiar with exploitation process and designed the 12-meter bench in perfect order. Therefore all the machineries and equipment such as drill rig, excavator, truck etc. are in proper coordination without interference.

Manager Tan made clear requirements regarding the production capacity of drill rig, i.e. 200 m/day. Hearing that the new PowerROC T25 DC integrated top hammer drill rig of Atlas Copco is to be introduced into China, Manager Tan contacted the regional sales team of Atlas Copco in Guangxi at the first time, and successfully became the first customer of PowerROC T25 DC drill rig in China.

Time-proven Equipment

PowerROC T25 DC is developed on the basis of the original market-tested CM470 model. As a new drill rig specially designed for customers in China, India, Southeast Asia and Africa etc, emerging markets, PowerROC T25 DC has combined many excellent performances such as conciseness, reliability and durability. For instance, due to the infinitely variable speed control, operators can adjust the surge pressure and airflow rate for slagging at any time through the direct-controlled stick, so as to make the straight hole drilling easier and more efficient. In addition, electrical components and other unnecessary parts are all controlled to the minimum level, thus making its operating system simple and intuitive as well as reducing the fault rate.

Stunning Debut

Since PowerROC T25 DC is manufactured by Atlas Copco Yokohama Plant in Japan, Atlas Copco specially invited service engineer from Japan to instruct the installation before starting the machine.

Upon one day commissioning, PowerROC T25 DC met trial run condition. On request by the customer, 4 drill rods with the length of 3.66 m and bit diameter of 89 mm shall be tested. The first drill rod took 1 minute 22 seconds, while that of the following 3 rods are 1 minute 22 seconds, 1 minute 41 seconds and 1 minute 53 seconds respectively. With this speed, it can be calculated that the net drilling efficiency could reach above 47m/hour, on the condition that there shall be integrated limestone formation, 12m bench and the hole diameter of 89 mm, which entirely meet the customer’s production requirement of 200 m/day. Mr. Liu Bing, the site manager of Dongtian Quarry with more than 10 years of quarry working experience watched the whole starting-up process and said “If we had introduced such high efficient equipment to our site earlier, we would never worry about the daily output.”

Manager Tan is very satisfied with the high efficiency of Atlas Copco PowerROC T25 DC as well, and firmly believed that this new equipment would further promote his career to a new level. At the meantime, the service team from Atlas Copco also committed that they would remind the customer of maintenance in time and list out reasonable accessories to ensure smooth operation of the machine.
