Atlas Copco Holds Energy-saving Seminar in Shanghai

- Promoting energy-saving concepts in China

Shanghai, China, September 12, 2008: Atlas Copco Group today hosted a seminar to promote the concept of energy-saving in China and introduce Atlas Copco’s energy-saving solutions to its customers.

Held at the Radisson Hotel Central Park in Shanghai, the seminar was attended by over 50 customers and several local government officials.  The event provided Atlas Copco with an opportunity to share some of the maintenance plans it has developed for customers and explain how it develops energy-saving plans through active partnerships between the customer service team and customers.
Statistics show that at present, energy efficiency utilization in China is about 10% lower than that of international standards. In addition the unit product energy consumption level in major domestic energy-consuming industries can vary from 25%-90% higher than that of developed countries.
The Eleventh Five-year Program for National Economy and Social Development explicitly states that from 2006 to 2010, China will reduce it’s per unit energy consumption GDP by 20%. This means that energy-saving has become a top priority for enterprises and officials and in the coming three years, China needs to aggressively reduce energy consumption and improve productivity.
To help companies in China to reduce energy consumption and improve productivity, Atlas Copco provides energy-saving solutions including an energy system auditing solution called AIRScan, energy consumption optimization solution AIROptimizer and remote control solution AIRConnect.
Edward Jones, Atlas Copco Regional General Manager said:” Atlas Copco provides high-quality products and energy saving solutions to our customers in China. In addition to high-quality products and their energy saving promise, professional and complete customer service is also important for winning customers.”
Markku Keloneva, Business Development Manager for Optimizing Products Asia of Atlas Copco said: “Chinese companies need more support for comprehensive energy saving system adoption and regular direction from professional companies after purchasing energy saving equipments. Equipment is only one aspect of an energy saving project. Chinese enterprises should establish a whole system for energy saving and receive professional guidance to ensure long-term effects."
Representatives from Haier Group and Panasonic also shared their experiences and comments of using Atlas Copco’s energy-saving solutions.
Qin Hongbo, official with the Energy Conservation Service Center of Shanghai Government gave a speech at the seminar. He said Shanghai Government plans to implement a citywide program to save energy use by motor systems at local enterprises and had introduced incentive measures.
