May 8, 2009, GDE CC GC CMT of Atlas Copco held a Core Barrel Assembly Competition with the theme of “Listening, Sharing, and Developing”, which was a part of the event held in Nanjing, China of the 15th Anniversary Celebration of Atlas Copco (Nanjing) Construction and Mining Equipment Ltd. and the Inauguration of New Facility of Customer Center & Product Company.

Mr. Peter Salditt, President of Atlas Copco Geotechnical Drilling and Exploration AB, and Mr. Larry Wang, Business Line Manager of GDE CC GC CMT attended the activity. More than 30 representatives of key customers of GDE from industries such as geology & minerals, nonferrous metals, coal and armed police exploration in the country, including Mr. Zheng Jiawen, President of Sichuan Huafeng Drilling & Engineering Co., Ltd., Mr. Xi Hui, Director of Gold Prospecting Command of China Armed Police Force, Ms. Yang Jinfang, General Manager of Victor Geological Exploration Inc., and GDE staff participated the competition. ...

Customers were divided into two groups in the competition after watching the complete process of dismantling and assembling core barrel demonstrated by service staff. Group One consisted of Mr. Qi Qi, General Manager of Beijing Kingong Machinery Equipment Co., Ltd., Mr. Wan Yu, Senior Engineer of Guizhou Geology and Mineral Materials Company, and Mr. Peng Butao from Fujian Coal Field Geology Bureau. Group Two consisted of Ms. Yang Jinfang and Mr. Gary Wiebe, General Manager and Chief Engineer of Victor Geological Exploration Inc. respectively, and Mr. Li Rui, Project Manager of Beijing Kingong Machinery Equipment Co., Ltd.. Backed by the knowledge of core barrel’s structure and the working experience, members of the two groups entered into heated competition, with some offering instructions, some working on the core barrel, and some spectators providing solutions. Though lagging behind during the dismantling stage, Group Two accelerated their assembling process and eventually won the competition.

As a pleasant form of interaction, the competition engaged customers into actual learning and exercise and made them better understand the performance and advantage of Atlas Copco products, fully know the Atlas Copco team and culture, and strengthen their trust on and recognition of Atlas Copco’s products and services. The interaction provided an opportunity to better understand and communicate between customers and Atlas Copco and between customers themselves. Gifts with Atlas Copco logo made customers greatly encouraged to participate the competition.
