Atlas Copco launches Rock Buggy and SpeedCut in China

Atlas Copco is all set to revolutionize the way the Dimension Stone Industry (DSI) works in China with the introduction of Rock Buggy and SpeedCut. The machines are tailor-made for the needs of the industry and help enhance the productivity considerably. The machines will be on display in China for the first time at the Bauma China exhibition, held at Shanghai, 27-30 November.

Rock Buggy

The Rock Buggy is suitably equipped for primary cut drilling, bench dressing and block dressing operations.

Piergiorgio Picotto, Vice President Business Development at Atlas Copco Stonetec, says, “Every businessman aims to optimize costs by increasing their production. Business owners in the DSI field can now reach this target choosing a product from Atlas Copco. Both Rock Buggy and SpeedCut have state of the art technologies allow an exponential increase of the production and the drastic reduction of operational costs.”

Atlas Copco Rock Buggy
The Rock Buggy is a small, hydraulic mobile drilling unit, tailor-made for marble, granite and sandstone quarries. It provides straight holes and gives a low total cost of ownership with high drilling productivity. The drilling speed is up to 2 m/min (6.5 ft/min), coupled with low fuel consumption of 6 l/h (1.6 US gal/h).

Weiwen Xu, Business Line Manager at Atlas Copco Customer Center, says, “Small in size and big in capacity, the Rock Buggy brings high productivity to a size never experienced before in the Dimension Stone Industry

The Atlas Copco Rock Buggy is equipped with remote control, which allows for safe operation. Further¬more, the effective dust collector system grants a high suction capacity with a reduc¬tion of noise level emissions. The hydrostatic transmission and 3-way steering system is a unique feature of the machine, which improves the tramming capacity and aids climbing gradients in tough working conditions.

Atlas Copco SpeedCut

Atlas Copco SpeedCut is the fastest diamond wire cutting machine on the market.

The other offering from Atlas Copco is SpeedCut - the fastest diamond wire cutting machine on the market.

Says Weiwen Xu, “Atlas Copco SpeedCut enables cuts at speeds of up to 45 m 2/h. These results speak for themselves, and with this kind of speed and economy a new era of diamond wire cutting has arrived.”

This “Load Cell Technology” enables the machine to place constant tension on the wire, without being confused by external factors (i.e., larger flow of water, fall in electric tension, non-homogenous materials, etc.). When using a cutting machine in DSI, a significant cost is the diamond wires. With the Atlas Copco SpeedCut we reduce the wire consumption up to 20%, depending on the material, compared to other machines on the market. A well-blended consumption of wire favors, long duration and automatic operations, from the beginning to the end of the cut. The Panel Machine Interface (PMI) and connection cable are both easy to handle; which allows control from a wider distance, giving increased safety for the operator. Maximum performance is ensured with full documentation and control of the cutting parameters and cutting processes. Working parameters such as cutting time duration, performance of the wire and error code lists can be easily downloaded to the com¬puter with an USB key, helping to manage the future work process effectively.
