Atlas Copco participates in World Expo 2010 Shanghai China

Shanghai, China, May 5 2009: Atlas Copco is one of the Official Partners in the Swedish exhibition in World Expo 2010 in Shanghai. Atlas Copco's core values of Interaction, Commitment, and Innovation, closely matches the Swedish theme for Expo 2010: Innovation, Sustainability, and Communication, or simply stated: Sweden– Spirit of Innovation.

Atlas Copco will have exclusive rights to use the VIP-area of the Swedish pavilion during six full days, May 5 – 10, 2010. During this period, Atlas Copco will host customers, distributors, authorities, employees and families, students and other important stakeholders.

Atlas Copco’s vision is to become and remain First in Mind—First in Choice® for its key stakeholders. This vision is also the driving force of the Group’s sustainability strategy, where the objective is to be a good cooperate citizen in each market. Atlas Copco has rolled out its sustainable activities at all levels from encouraging community engagement, reengineering internal process to actively influencing industry standards on a larger scale. In 2008, Atlas Copco has, for the fourth time, been selected as one of the “Global 100” most sustainable companies in the world as announced at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland.

World Expo is the third largest event in the world in terms of economic and cultural impact, after the FIFA World Cup and the Olympic Games. Since the first World Expo in London, held in 1851, such Expos have in one way or another influenced the development of society impacting on international trade and relations, art, tourism and even education.

The theme of the Expo 2010 in Shanghai will be "Better City – Better Life" and signifies the city's new status as a major economic and cultural center. It is expected to generate the largest number of visitors in the history of world fairs. The goal is to attract the participation of over 200 countries and international organizations and 70 million visitors during a six-month period (May 1st - October 31st, 2010).

The Swedish pavilion at Expo 2010 will contain the Swedish exhibition, VIP areas and other facilities. The 3,000 square meter building will be located in the European section alongside the other Nordic countries.

The site of the event is the Nanpu Bridge-Lupu Bridge region in the center of Shanghai along both sides of the Huangpu River, covering 5.28 km2. Massive construction of new metro lines has been undertaken in recent years in order to serve the sheer mass of people for this event.
